"I was diagnosed with PTSD 3.5 years ago, following a serious assault. This has affected me in several ways.

i have been hypervigilant and have been increasingly unable to deal with crowds of people and have found it very difficult to shop in town or visit my office as it is very busy most days.

I have become very creative in ways to work around my anxiety. Shopping at 24 hour stores at 05:30 when there is no-one around, inviting people to my house to eat, rather than eat in restaurants.

I haven’t told many people about what happened, my parents don’t know as they are elderly and live far away… it would only upset them needlessly.

I didn’t recognise myself after the incident. Having thought of myself as a strong woman (physically and mentally)… my inability to do anything at the time of the attack, haunted me and made me feel ashamed and embarrassed.

The case is still ongoing, due to various errors that have happened in the process. Every time I get some form of contact from the police or the procurator fiscal to say that someone else has come forward… it seems to trigger worse PTSD symptoms.

Some of the time I have felt that I have behaved like a complete mad woman… diving into hedges when someone gets too close, running out of my flat in the middle of the night when the night terrors hit. It was a living nightmare.

Last Monday morning, I was able to stand on a crowded railway station front and allow hundreds of people to rush past me with no feeling of panic at all.

I was bragging to you on Tuesday morning that I had been in Tesco at 5:15pm when it was at its busiest and stood in a queue! Something I haven’t been able to do for years on my own.

Since then I have been into work, been into town ON A SATURDAY… and basically now feel like a normal human being and feel better than I have done in years!''

There aren’t words enough to say thank you or to express what this means

Alan didn't know what the situation was but possibly had an idea of the severity when I rated it as a 10. After he performed the technique it went down to 5. And I am more than happy for it to be a 5.

Alan never asked what the incident was but I decided to tell him. In a nutshell I was on the Herald of Free Enterprise that capsized on March 6 1987, also my 6th birthday. Circa 195 people lost their lives on that ferry. It has affected me somewhat over the years, lack of sleep, vivid flashbacks to name but a few. So for the sake of a 10 - 15-minute technique it has helped me immensely

A month on, I still find it hard to believe that after 17 years of chronic, sometimes severe pain and one session of OldPain2Go, I’m virtually pain free!

I’d struggled with an unstable disc and sciatica following an accident. I've refused disc replacement surgery unless it becomes my only option, and was advised the only other treatment was pain management and physio. Neither were proving effective, in fact the physio exacerbated it and I learnt to adjust my activity to accommodate the pain. Any changes to my daily routine would set it off and it was really holding me back from exercising, losing weight, getting my life back in order or doing adventurous things.

After my session of OldPain2Go with Alan, I had an instant release, absolutely no sciatica, although muscle pain crept back in as hours went on. It was only a day or two later I realised these were aches of withdrawal as the pain killers drained from my cells. It took me two weeks to come off them completely and with each day the aches subsided to a twinge, then nothing. Just sweet relief and freedom. I started moving normally again without the worry of whether the wrong twist or stretch would bring it back on. A few days in, I realised I could bend to sweep something up off the floor and walk straight on without breaking my stride. A simple thing, right? Wrong, I had struggled with that level of mobility for years.

Last week was the first time I’ve felt pain since. A day at a safari park, 5 hours of driving and suddenly after dinner I tried to stand and got a cracking pain across my lower back. I couldn’t straighten up fully, my legs buckled when I tried and I realised that the disc had bulged out again. I took the single painkiller I had with me for the drive home thinking I’d need more. Instead, by the time I arrived home, I realised the pain subsided when I remained still, so I tried a night lying flat first. By morning my disc had slipped back in, and although tender and stiff for a few days, I didn’t need the usual onslaught of meds because the cracks of pain switched back off as soon as everything was back in place.

Another week on and I’m back to normal, back to exercising, and back to living life pain free. Huge thanks must go to Alan from releasing me from restriction with this incredible and simple technique
